Hey everyone!
So I have never been to The Makeup Show, and I'm excited that I'm able to attend in Chicago this year. I've paid for a two day ticket so I can really get the most out of it all.

I have no idea the protocol for shopping at this event. Is it smart to buy on the first day? I've heard that many items sell out immediately, and I don't want to have those "what ifs". So,I have questions:
1) what are the can't miss items?
2) what's a good amount of cash to bring?
3) I'm looking into more dramatic makeup,as well as corrective coloring cosmetics for my clients. What brands do you suggest would be a good start?
4) I'm also looking into an airbrush system. Temptu looks pretty good, however I'm open to any brand that works comparable to it.
5) What do YOU look forward to experiencing there?

Thanks in advance, and have a great weekend!!

I've never attended TMS before so I can only give you my experience with IMATS.

1. Can't miss items are going to depend on what vendors are there and what products you're into.

2. I would say a 50-50 mix of cash and debit/credit card are in order. Many vendors typically have Square, Paypal or Intuit card readers so they can take your debit/credit card. Depending on how much you want to buy I would say no less than $200 but again depends on what you want to buy and what kind of working pro you are. The more busy you are with clients the more I would say to stock up on basics like disposables. While inexpensive that can eat up a good chunk of your budget.

3. Depends on the vendors. This is a professional only show so ALL the vendors there will have things that you can use.

4. Temptu is fine but you're limited to using their pods unless you use a different airbrush gun. Grex is recommended by OCC's founder.

It's fun, don't worry about cash bc everyone has a square. Beware of gimmicky things, go with a list so you don't end up with a bunch of junk. If you're looking for brushes look at the ends to see if they're cut. If they are, walk away. I have a Kett Jett and love it. It's small and powerful. Temptu is loud and breaks often. Decide what type of airbrush foundation you want to use bc you'll need multiple guns for different types (water or Silicone based). Take classes and shop both days. I have a zuca bag for my kit and love it. If they offer you 30% off at the show - take it. But really just have a good time and stick to a list.
