I have been dying my hair red for a year. The color is an auburn color. I used the Garnier Nutrisse Medium Intense Auburn. My hair was a light brown before. I would like to go back to a light brown color. I've tried Color Oops but I couldn't get past the smell haha. I also tried a Light Ash Brown dye from Walmart, forgot the brand, but it did nothing.

Anyways, I plan on going to Sally's Beauty Supply soon to get supplies. I know an ash color is supposed to help cover up red tones but I'm not sure what to get from Sally's. Any advice on how to get back to brown hair? Would a dark ash blonde dye cover it up? Just from the swatch of the color on the internet it looks like a light brown.

Thanks in advance!

Just use a straight brown dye. Anything that says AB (ash brown) or RB (red brown) stay clear of. Ash will get rid of the brown because it has a green base to it and green bases cancel out red tones. I personally, hate any hair color that consists of ash, just because I hate how it looks greenish under certain lighting in stores.

The opposite of red is green on the color wheel so anything with a green background such as ash green will counteract the red. My best friends sister is a professional hair dresser
