I have newly branched out as a solo freelance makeup artist, mainly focusing on bridal. Have any of you fellow mua had a client have a product they want you to use? If so, what do you normally do/say? I ask because I had a bridal client recently who come wedding day, had a blush she whipped out from her own kit (this did not come up in her trial) that she LOVED and asked me to use it on her. I did because I wanted to keep her happy, but I'm not sure it was the best color match for her and was quite shimmery for photography. What do you do in this situation?
Thanks!

As a mua, if the client comes with something I believe is not the best for her, I will tell her so and explain why something else might be a better solution. (explain for example the effect shimmery blush has in photography). if she is still adamant that I use her product, I will do so, the bottom line, she is the customer, and she gets what she wants. but only after trying to convince/explain to her why I would do differently.

I completely agree with Sonja, explain to her why you think it wouldn't be the best way to go, if she's fine with that then go ahead and use it on her, she's the client.

Sonja is correct and also next time you have a client asked in advance is their a product they love and want to use and if it's not flattering I usually show them what I think by using it on them.Compare the looks see what they say.they might change their mind :-)
