If the above works, that's cool! Depending on how healthy your hair is and how light your wanting to go you could use bleach without damaging your hair as much as you think. Bleach it once and if it isnt the colour you want, wait at least a week and bleach again and it should be plently light enough :)

Lemon juice will also lighten hair! I wouldn't go drastically lighter in a salon, but if you did want to, make sure you do it gradually! If you bleached it all at once to a really light color it will damage your hair more than if you go in a few times and do it slowly!

Lemon juice corrodes! @Hannah D. , I wouldn't recommend lemon juice to anyone! Not for bleaching hair, not for skin or whiten teeth. Yeah it gives an effect but by damaging outer layer that you can't get back. And it's very important to have that, I know hair grows back but it will look so unhealthy and weak!
