I always hear not to wash your hair everyday because it strips your hair of natural oils. I wash my hair everyday because if I don't my hair is GROSS and dry shampoos don't really work. My hair doesn't seem very dry but should I stop? I also put in products after I shower (herbal essences split end protector and the suave Moroccan oil).

If you're not having any issues and seeing positive results then I see no reason to switch up. Everyone's hair is different...what may work for one person might not work for another. :)

Wash your hair every other night. That's what I do because I have natural oily hair.

It depends on the thickness of your hair. If you have thick coarse hair then you don't need to. You could wait like every 2 to 3 days. My sister and mom have extremely thick hair so thats what they do. Or if you have thin hair but like a lot of hair ( I do) you could do it every other day. I tried washing my hair every 2 days because I dye my hair red, and I ended up with seborrheic dermatitis. Not fun. Your scalp gets scaly dry itchy bleeds oozes etc. it's gross and suck. It all really depends on the thickness of your hair. My hair has gotten thicker and thicker as I get older so I don't need to wash it everyday.

How about you wash it every other day to give your hair a daily breather.

Yea it's really not good to wash it every day. Every other day is fine. I usually skip two days though.

If your hairs fine I wouldn't change the routine if its working for you :) I have to skip a day or two in between I found I was shedding like crazy when I was washing everyday but more than 2 days my hair gets really oily and dry shampoo doesn't help when it gets that way -__-

Start using a moisturizing/ repair shampoo and contitioner, not a drug store brand.. a professional brand! and ion makes an awesome dry shampoo! also use a moisturizing masque once a week

It all comes down to ingredients, like Mairead said. Even if sulfate is taken out, there's tons of sodium in it's place. Or if they claim to be organic based. Majority of the time, "organic" ingredients are chemically created for mass production. I used to wash my hair everyday because it would get oily and gross, like yours Anabelle. Until I researched and found a shampoo that is mostly organic and has no foaming agent (which is horrible for your hair), so now I can go two days without being oily and gross. I use Shea Moisture right now. It's not perfect, but it's better than most shampoos I've used in the past! Hope this helps :)

If you wash your hair everyday that can cause your scalp to produce more oil because your sucking the oils out as you wash them. So was your hair every other night!

Train your scalp to get used to it not being shampooed everyday. Like @sharon k said your scalp is used to producing more oil because you shampoo it everyday. If you gradually stop washing it so often then your scalp will stop producing as much oil, so you can get away with not shampooing so much. Start shampooing it every other day. Then every 3rd day. And so on as long as you want. I only wash my hair once a week and as weird as it is to people it is better that way.

You're scalp could be becoming so oily so quickly because you're stripping it too often, making it over compensate. I would start doing every other day and I bet your hair will start to be less and less oily on those in-between days.

I'm like you I wash mine everyday because it looks greasy and yuck. I've tried not washing everyday but then I get really bad dandruff. I use a hot oil treatment once a week and my hairdresser says my hair is in really good condition. Do what you feel is right for you x
