I've tried lemon..it is a good to prevent and get rid of dandruff. make sure you don't keep it for more thn an hour or so.

There was an article on here about doing half vodka half lemon juice and applying immediately before sun. say it works well. who knows. I'm going to try it though :)

Don't use lemon on your hair for lightening. It will make your hair very dry and if you have any kind of bleached highlights that hair will turn into straw. Lemon can be used as a scalp treatment or as an added scent in hair products but it is not good for your hair.
I am a cosmetologist so believe me when I say it will do more harm then good. If you want your hair to lighten use a dye.

I heard it works, I tried it and no luck. try putting your hair on beer, I did it and my hair lightened up a little.
