As makeup artist we all know time is crucial. I take about 40-45 min per face and I think that's too much time! How can I reduce my time without making clients feel uncomfortable. The reason I take that long is because I love to talk to my clients and make them feel comfortable, get to know them a bit more and I also talk them throught the steps I'm doing based on the makeup application and answer questions.

40-45 mins is fine once you do a great job, don't forget to listen to your clients they should most of the talking and by listening to them it gives you time to speed up application, I also found if you keep moving I.e never stand back an chat until your fully done!

Make up is "supposed" to take 30 mins max but I really never stick to that myself!! They key for me is preparation and having everything ready and open and ready to apply!! Try to explain your steps as you are applying the make up don't stop to talk (we are great multitaskers afterall lol) but the more you do the faster you will get xx

This depends on what environment you work in. Do you sell makeup, work in bridal, or are you aspiring to work in commercial/editorial? If you ever want to make money working commercially, you will have to be faster; 20 minutes is average. If you are doing brides or girls going to prom locally for events in a smaller town I wouldn't sweat it, no one's watching the clock, enjoy yourself!
