You will basically be using heat on your hair which can be damaging on your hair. unless you decide on roller setting it.

You aren't guaranteed an Afro like that when you go natural anyway. But to get the curls you want you will probably have to use a roller set or some kind of curlers.

Why does my phone not love me? *You aren't guaranteed an Afro like that when you go natural anyway so you may be in luck.

Or a soft curl perm, roller sets would have to be done every week.

@Laura - The point of going natural is to not perm your hair. Plus perms don't curl african American hair, it makes it bone straight.

I think you should do twist outs or braid outs there really cute and they don't give you an afro.

@Erin soft curl perms are for African American hair, they relax it first then perm it. It's made for any ethnic hair, if she's trying to go natural she wouldn't do anything. To get hair like the second picture it needs to be permed. You can't put serum in it or anything it needs to be shaped.

Actually laura, to get it like the second picture, she does not have to use a perm. all she could do is roller set since she will be natural and not wanting to use chemicals at all.

Perms are to actually make the hair curly. relaxers makes the hair straight.
