I like my Sigma brushes like Brittney mentioned but they're expensive and these 3 brands make almost equal quality for waaay less $ :)

I'd go for real techniques brushes as they have a pointing brush and a blending foundation brush which is good for beginners, cheap as well!

Real Techniques, Eco Tools, Elf Studio, Sigma, Sonia Kashuk, Bedllium, and The Body Shop all have good prices for individual brushes and sets!

If you're just starting out, I wouldn't go for the expensive brushes just yet (this includes Sigma brushes because while they're good quality and cheaper than MAC, they're still more expensive than other brushes of decent quality). I'd definitely check out Real Techniques, Eco Tools, or Coastal Scents. In my experience with these brushes, the shedding is very minimal (esp. the Real Tech and Eco Tools brushes), they're really good for blending, and you get pretty good results out of them considering the price you're paying for them. If you want more value for your money, I'd look into a Coastal Scents brush set.
