I'm new to the world of makeup and I keep hearing about different types of lipstick. (ie. matte)
What is the difference and how many kinds are there?

Just as in eyeshadow, lipsticks will have countless finishes and textures. Matte (no shine), gloss, glitter, shimmer, frost, frosty glitter, satin ( minimal shine), etc. They all feel different as well, some are moisturizing and some feel dry, and some are nasty and flakey. You will just have to experiment. Go have a heyday at Ulta or Sephora, a swatch fest!
