No matter what shade of brown I dye my hair, I always have red undertones in it. Usually I like it but I'm looking for an ashy medium brown color right now. Will purple shampoo help that? All of the ones that I've seen say they're for blondes, will these work for brunettes too?
Or is there another option to take the brassiness out of brown hair?

It may work but like kaitlin said it's mostly for blondes if it does work it won't be noticeable after one use you will have to use it multiple times.

Yes it will help but it won't take all of it out. I tried it on my brown hair & it does help but it can't change a color, only tone it... Does that make sense? When you buy the hair dye does it say ash brown?

Yeah I just colored my hair about a week ago with a permanent ash brown color. Red undertones are showing through though. So I was wondering if a purple shampoo would help tone that red out or if there is another option like an actual toner or something.
