My hair is all damaged. I bleached it and dye it every two weeks so you can imagine I wanted to know how I can keep in the bright red longer!!

So you bleach it every 2 weeks? what colour does it fade to?

Bleaching your hair every 2 weeks is a horrible idea. no offence. but I had a friend whos hair started comming out in clumps beacause of that. there isnt much you can do about red hair unfortunately except for using good quality hair products to protect it from you've.

You only need to reapply the red dye when your hair fades or put some dye in a spray bottle with some water and just spray it in whenever you notice your hair fading :)

Try a red fudge or something instead perhaps.

So I've had fire engine red too, its such a pain to maintain. What brand of color do you use? I think using a professional line makes a real difference plus I couldn't wash my hair everyday. I usually did it every other or so. I used a UV protector spray also from matrix. Your color is amazing but I feel you on the hard work! Make sure you invest in a super deep treatment once a week also. Good luck!

As a hairstylist I would recommend not washing your hair more than twice a week and when do wash deep condition it! There's a red shampoo at sallys called reveiting red. I used it when I had red highlights;)

Going along with what ashley said I use the riveting reds shampoo then the roux refresh mask in fire red because it has more pigment than the riveting reds conditioner and is deeper conditioning and my red has barely faded (:

Good to know Ashley! I may try it if I ready mine. I use the it's a 10 line and love it.

When I used to have bright red hair I reserved a little of the left-over color and mixed it with my shampoo. I only wash my hair 2-3 times a week, and when I did I used the color mix to keep things vibrant.

I loved having my deep mahogany hair. Actually I called it "chocolate cherry" haha. But my hair fades quick, and red never fades nice on me. I think if you have a hair color that has difficult maintenance that its not worth it for long. It's not worth damaging your hair. I know it's so frustrating!!

Shampoo less and instead invest in a dry shampoo they work wonders! I can go an extra day or two with out shampooing when I use a ds

Use some red color filler everything you dye it red. You can get it at a sallys store and its not expensive at all.

Red fades the fastest- the molecules in red haircolor are smaller so they leave quickly. You can try a couple things, grab some red semi perm haircolor and mix it with your conditioner for a quick refresh (I do that once every two weeks with my blue hair); and also make sure you're using a great UV protectant!

Red fades very fast but stop bleaching so much if you want to touch up the color thats fine but you don't bleach and color everytime mix the color and rinse it through your hair to refresh the red but that bleaching so often will result in what we called at school a chemical haircut.

Mine is this colour - I top up with a Crazy Colour once a fortnight roughly and only ever use bleach on the roots every 8ish weeks. I only wash a couple of times a week if I can stand it, and use dry shampoo in between :-)
