I'm having trouble with my foundation staying. it won't last at all. as a make-up artist I feel this is a terrible representation of my skills. I don't Do touch up on myself for lack of time. It's like the foundation isn't staying and the podwer flakes off.makeup won't stay on my nose or chin at all. any advice is appreciated. I use Mac prep and prime, studio fix,Mac concealer, Mac mineralize powder.

Christina - perhaps it's your skincare regimen? What is your skin type and what are you currently using?

I guess I'm combination. I still have acne mostly hormonal. my tzone is dry unless I moisturize and then if I Do it gets oily. I wash morning and night with cetaphil. after my morning wash I moisturize with vitamin e. then at night I use castor oil for a over night moisturize. if I didn't Do this my skin is tight and leathery feeling and will flake and Peel.

Try liquid. It'll build more of a mask (I have no more appealing way to describe that lol) rather than powder, which kind of sits over your skin and can wear off a lot easier. Some people actually just aren't too good with MAC foundations, it could be that. Just experiment with different ones.

Honestly I have this problem too. We're working hard and probably touching our faces without realizing it too often. If you think about it, were working, using our phones against our face, eating and wiping our mouths with napkins... It could me many reasons. I have combination skin and powder is the first to be rubbed off. I feel like setting sprays don't work for me. I suggest that you change brands. Mac has a lot of oils in it and since you said you have a dry t zone, your skin is most likely absorbing the product. It's true. I don't recommend Mac really to anyone as a matter of fact. Give NARS a try.

Personally, I would not use the products you are using, especially on dry skin. I haven't assessed your skin in person, but based on the info. you've given I would recommend Cerave to wash with, Philosophy's Microdelivery pads for exfoliation, Dermalogica Active Moist moisturizer or the Cerave one if you can't afford it, Kinerase eye cream. Laura Mercier makes a great Hydrating Primer and I'd switch to either Cover FX or Graftobian HD or Kevyn Aucoin's Sensual Skin Enhancer; all of which are better for dry skin. MAC Studio Fix is wretched for dry skin. Keromask, Dermacolor or OCC for concealing, as little powder as possible, just enough to set. A moisturizing setting spray like UD's, as many are loaded with alcohol. Fix Plus is NOT a setting spray, although they market it as one.

Try a silicone based foundation and set with powder that contains no talc.
