I understand what all of you are saying and like ive said before, im not asking people so i can go to the tattoo parlor the next day and tell them i want that, i just want ideas and i like to see what people have of their bodies and why they have them or what people think would be cool on their bodies, everyone has a different way of thinking about something and everyone has different meanings to things, I have another 2 years until im planning on getting my thigh tattoo. I know it should be personal, meaningful, and my own decision. I just want to see whats out there.

Since when is hair color, eyeshadow or my clothes permanent & something I will have to look at for the rest of my life?
I mean, I understand tattoos don't actually need a deep, tear-jerking, poetic meaning, but comparing that to the pink pajama pants I'm wearing right now is sort of far fetched. lol

I dunno why people freak about tattoos having meaning.... Does your hair color have meaning? Your eyeshadow? The dress your wearing? Why can't tattoos just be pretty art... My two fave tattoos have no meaning. I dreamed I got them then went and got them. My others have meaning but I didn't commit to them like I should have- gotten them big and artsy enough- bc I was so scared about regretting them. I don't buy paintings for their personal significance to me, you know? So get whatever you like.

I have a paw print on my foot but I want this Celtic paw on my leg. It would look nice black and white or color added.

I totally agree with Courtney B. A tat is permanent and you want something that is meaningful not some random idea that was generated based on public opinion because years later you could regret the choice. That's why after 13 years of getting my first one I'm deciding on what I want as my second one. I want it to be super special but yet with meaning.

If you're going to ask strangers for tattoo ideas, you may as well just get a flash piece off the wall at a tattoo parlor. Not saying that every tattoo has to have deep and profound meaning, but you should get something that YOU love and really want.

I feel like since tattoos are so permanent you should wait until something really speaks to you, not just pick a random one because it looks cool that someone random posted on here... Just my opinion though

I think an intricate tree would be gorgeous for a thigh tat. Something like this :

Personally I think you should come up with your own idea if you're getting a second tattoo. You seem like you're getting a tat just for the hell of it if you're asking for ideas.

I have four tattoos and am looking for a unique next one. That's when I stumbled across this French tattoo artist who has a completely new style of tattooing. His work is absolutely gorgeous! Here's a sample of his stuff but if you want to look him up his name is Xoil

I have a few of mine in my photos. I've had a general idea of what I wanted since I was 12 or so..and waited until after I turned 25 to start because I wanted to be sure! I think something unique that you've never seen is key :) I have a wonderful artist and we brainstorm together..I'm sure you'd get much better input that way than on here. Good luck!

Stephanie D., I completely agree! Mine is the Sagittarius arrow, because my name, hair, face, and everything will change, but the day I took my first breath will always stay the same. It's in the center of my chest, between my breasts. (Ignore the line under it, I just got back from the gym and my sports bra was rubbing me.) it's low enough you can't see it with a tank top but high enough to point to my heart.

Honestly, I think if you need someone else to give you an idea for a tattoo, you're going to hate it in a few years. I have 3 (4, depending on how you count), and every single one of them is a representation of things about me that CANNOT change, hence their permanence doesn't bother me (I've had one of them for 10 years). I get a ton of style points especially for my hip tattoos, but I didn't get them for the sake of decoration.

Know what you want, then look for inspiration on how exactly you want it to look. That's my policy.

I'm planning on getting a huge thigh piece of one of my favorite albums from childhood (still is now), my dad used to play Kate Bush for me before I was even born and she has always been one of my favorites =) plus it has killer artwork!

This is my left thigh. I got the lyrics first, then decided that it was too small floating around on such a big space, so i added the roses and skull. Its not finished yet, theres still more shading to be done and colour adding, all my tattoos are in colour so i dont want to leave this grey. Iv got both ribs done, my back my hip and foot, buy my thigh hurt most. My tattooist says its because im not nervous anymore, so i dont get the adrenaline rush to act as pain relief. Makes sense xx
