So I jumped on the bandwagon and purchased it as a primer after Nikkie Tutorials started raving about it, and I used it under my makeup today and I have never have seen my makeup apply more flawlessly! What are your thoughts? how did it work on your skin?

I have normal- extremely dry skin and it worked like a dream, Do you want to try it out?

I never heard about using aftershave cream as a primer. That's pretty neat, I might give it a try.

I was thinking of it for when I eventually run out. still unsure. but finally someone with dry skin tried it. all the reviews I see are for oily skin

I use it alllll the time! My face is Norma to dry skin and the balm works amazing still. I was scared bc I'm dry but it looks great and my makeup stays on forever. For the price and the size of the bottle I definitely recommend

It contains glycerin which acts like glue for whatever makeup you put on it and I thought it was a scam but it's not!! It's actually amazing.

I've tried it, it works well on my dry skin but because it's also sensitive it kept breaking me out so I had to stop using it :(

Did you get the sensitive version or the regular? I loooooooove Nikki and she raves about it all the time, I've really been considering it. I've got dry skin with awful dehydration, I live in the dryest place ever AND I have eczema so it's always nice seeing reviews for dry skin

Brittany, I've been sufferring from super dry skin this winter and I havent felt so confident with my makeup on my face since I've started using it!! I have the sensitive one though, just cause I didnt know if the regular version would be any different than the sensitive one.

Yes I'd feel more comfortable with the sensitive skin one anyways I think, I'll definitely give it a try!

I'm not understanding why this product is any better than a actual beauty balm which most have glycerin in it as well . Glycerin is in most cosmetic foundations too and soap, primers, setting sprays the list goes on,plus most balms or radiance finish balms are catered to dry skin and provide hydration so I'm a bit confused on the hype. Give a look at all your products and check for glycerin. By the way you can Also make your own Glycerin mixing medium.
Eucerin &Aquaphor are from the same company as Nivea and they use similar ingredient. :)

I'm assuming it's because it's cheap... But it's supposed to be a very good primer! It's not like everyone is going "omg it has glycerin!! Raid the shelves!!" But people are having great experiences with it keeping foundation on forever and providing a flawless finish. Nothing wrong with finding multiple uses for one product, especially since men's hygiene products are usually so much cheaper than targeted women's cosmetics because they know women will pay the big bucks.

I'm not sure how to take your comment Brittany it seems snide but if it's not please feel free to let me know. I'm just a tad confused about the hype and have valid reason why I'm a bit confused by it. As for price it's about the same as any other lower cost product and glycerin in some stores are actually cheaper. As far as I've seen it is all about the glycerin from everyone's tube, review, blog, vlog, insta and so on. That is why I questioned it. Now does this mean you can't buy it? well no of course not, I'm just merely having a beauty conversation and giving my true thought's about it.

It's not snide lol, somehow everyone around here seems to read my replies like that and get offended but it's just how I speak and have no idea how to Change it 😂😂 lots of products have hype around them while having cheaper alternatives, it's exciting to find products that work well especially somewhere so unexpected which I personally think is where most of the hype derives from

I think it's the delivery on how you type it, when you said it's not like everyone is going "Omg it has glycerin!! Raid the shelves!!" Which can be interpreted as a snide comment and that is why I asked so I have a clearer understanding of the content of your character. I agree a lot of product's are hyped and it is exciting to find many uses from one thing but I can't seem to grasps the hype on the Nivea men's balm thing. Is it because it's a man's product maybe but Nivea also has a balm for woman so I guess this will be something I'll personally have to digg into and compare the two.

I've been using the nivea aftershave balm for a few months now under my makeup.. and my makeup does look incredible and stays on longer and fresher esp around my T zone.

Haha well it's not, I can't really change who I am. I read it in a completely different tone than you do apparently so try reading it in a less snide tone? Haha I don't know, texting is hard. I don't really think people are simply hyped because it's a product with glycerin and what not, it's the fact that it performs (for many, I haven't tried it yet) like you would expect a high end primer to without the price tag. From reviews is does seem to have all the perks of a primer NOT just making things stay in place as glycerin would. I don't think anyone's unreasonably hyped, I'm personally excited because it's so hard to find all around good primers for my dry skin which this seems to be

Anything that does THIS amazingly at holding my makeup in place and is as cheap as it is, is a win in my books. Since the discovery of this in the "beauty world", I've raided my boyfriends after-shave products and nothing that I've found yet has had glycerin in it. I don't want any tension on this post lol

I'm raving about it, because it's awesome :)

I read everything pretty lightly all the time but thought I should ask because like you said many here on BL seem to think you have a certain presence on how you Reply on thread's so I figured I would give you the floor to express it.If you say it's not snide then it's not that's cleared up, which is good.Really my thing is to talk about this balm and the story around it and like most I'm trying to understand it. I'm at ease with no tension on my part just conversing on the thread and trying to gauge the contributers on this thread for legitimate feed back. Mariah would you consider it as a base or a primer when using it? What makes it any different from all products that have the same ingredient?

I just purchased it girl 😍 I'll use it in the morning. So hard to find a GOOD primer that doesn't accentuate my dry patches

^^^^ wow long post lmao. But like I said lmao, works for me and for others and that's why so many people have been loving it. People get excited over inexpensive things that do the same thing if not better than expensive things. For example:
I started using the "L'Or " primer by Guerlain which is $80CAD... when I used the aftershave balm, the feel on my skin was WAY too similar to pass up. Not to mention I bought the aftershave for $10CAD.

I also think my pores have been loving it, because I haven't been using any pore minimizing primers and just this primer keeps me poreless (or less than usual) and very matte. I was annoyed with it because of everyone talking about it, until I tried it. But it's great, and just let us be excited lmao its not going to kill anyone haha

No I see where Mariah is coming from, I can't remember the last time anyone else dissected a product on a rave thread about a product just to tell them it's not worth the hype.. Not sure why this one has been selectively chosen. Everyone raves about products that are hardly unique without being questioned. I don't think it's even once been referred to as ground breaking nor different, simply a "hey dry skinned folks, this is a great primer and super cheap!!" I have tried it with my MUFE HD foundation about an hour and a half ago, and I can't speak for longevity yet, but what I can say is that the flawless finish and blurring effect it seems to give my pores and patches is beyond comparable to the Laura Mercier hydrating primer which I loved but never had the heart (or wallet) to repurchase. Super excited about this Mariah so thanks for this thread 😊❤️

Interesting you say that Brittany, Jacqueline and Alma break down products all the time to inform members of what they are using and what better options there are..
I do think the balm is interesting, I am curious to try it out since there seems to be so many claims to flawless finishes but then again everyone was going on this huge rave with the idea of adding Jojoba oil to foundation for a 'flawless' finish which I never understood either since you could achieve that by investing time and money in quality skin care.. So I'm wondering if it's just another trend like contouring, strobing, over lined lips, pale nude lips, etc.
I'll be picking this up on my next run inside Walgreens (which I'm actually outside of) and trying it out to see if it does anything different than my moisturizer.

Strange how I've never seen it. I just feel bad for anyone when they make a thread and then people attempt to essentially tell them why their new favorite product is nothing special. I guess you can't really disagree with those two on here though, so I won't waste my time. I never understood adding jojoba to foundation either, I think even the best foundation or primer cannot fix skin that isn't properly taken care of, ESPECIALLY dry skin. As for the Balm, I've been wearing it all day, and I've really been enjoying it. If you have dry skin I definitely think it's worth a try. People post about products all the time and I don't know why it's suddenly a requirement for a product to be groundbreaking and blow everything out of the water to be valid. The flawless finish its giving my skin and the fact that you can't see the eczema on my cheeks is EXTREMELY comparable to my $38 dollar primer... For $10 bucks... If you can find me better for cheaper by all means do so, I love saving money! But the fact that this is comparable to a high end primer not just in moisture or holding power but with its blurring effect is more than enough reason for it to merit a threat without question

Here's the least patchy my skins ever looked :) @kitty! I've never felt better about my eczema as it usually cauSs every thing to look patchy and you can barely see it!

Yes I am aware, not trying to make a mountain of a mole hill simply stating that something doesn't have to be unique to be great and that's the beauty of it. Thanks for the thread Mariah as I was apprehensive to buying this and I found something that raised my confidence 😍 you're awesome girl
