I so feel your pain on this. I also have super dry skin and haven't found a foundation that on it's own will keep my skin from flaking up. What worked for me was adding a drop or two of beauty oil. I also use Sheer Glow, and it's worked beautifully.

So you add 2 drops to the foundation Michelle?

Sorry, let me clarify, I pump out some of the sheer glow, and then I add a couple drops of the oil. Mix and apply with my face brush. I wouldn't add it directly to your foundation (as in to the bottle), as it might not combine correctly. So basically, prior to applying my makeup, I apply my moisturizer, and then to keep the foundation from attaching to my dry spots or flaking up, I add the oil. Depending on how dry your skin is you might need less of the oil. I haven't tried the Tarte Oil, I have tried Boscia, Tatcha and Rodin beauty oils with this method and it's worked really well :)

Tarte upcharges their oil. Marajuca is fantastic, but Tarte's price is absurd.
That said, Marajuca Oil is high in Lineolic acid. Not everyone's skin is compatible. Others need to find an Oleic/Lineolic Acid balance or skin may worsen. This, of course, does not apply to everyone. High Oleic acid oils are best for mature skin verses acne prone. So what to do?
Evening Primrose oil is extremely acne-friendly as it has a nice balance of Oleic and Lineolic acids. You are still getting all the benefits of fatty acids, but at a different balance. You can sometimes find it at "Whole Foods", but any "Vitamin Shoppe" or Health Food store should have it. It is also available online. (around $15 for a big bottle)
You may also be mineral oil sensitive. Check your labels. There's plenty of dry skin saves at the link below. With any new product, always test patch.
Good luck.

Star, if you are able, samples are always the best way to go. That way you aren't making an investment in funds. Sephora and Dept. Store counters both offer samples upon request. If you cannot get samples, like anything, risk is involved. You can always save your receipts and make a return, but I do that with all of my products as I am on a tight budget.

As for me...
As I've shared in the link, I am not dry, but instead severely dry; that is a whole other monster when tackling from both a cosmetic and skincare point of view. My efforts were to share a viable solution for someone with dryness at a high level. (Even if only temporary due to harsh weather or medication). Everyone is different and so the products which I have recommended should help to banish both dry and severely dry skin; it would simply alter in frequency of product use based on dryness levels. I always defer to the ingredients as members often know their skin sensitivities.

The thread link, which is truly worth a read, lists Marlene's, Ms. Jacqueline's and my own recommendations for foundations...
But, in addition, I wanted to help you fix your dry skin beyond finding a foundation.
The Evening Primrose should address both dryness and issues of spotting.
The link lists inexpensive products to rectify and heal dry skin...which I hope is of use.

Ms. Jacqueline, I was joking in that I have not been in the forum posting much..and am returning to the quiet of my profile for a bit. :)

Lovely day to you ladies.
