I'm thinking of doing my own lash extensions using like the Ardell Duralash starter kit w/ the extensions and semi-permanent adhesive and such (because professionally done ones are out of my budget). What are your thoughts on this, have you done it before? Are you able to go swimming or take a shower w/ out them falling off?

Don't know about this but I looked into it... here's a link of reviews... it seems pretty resistant but all I would say is that I would be nervous about myself placing them incorrectly.

I've seen a few pictures of how they're done and I suggest that if you're doing them at home, you should have someone do it for you. I don't even think it's possible to do it yourself, alone? Because your eyes have to be shut.

Also I heard that you can go swimming and take a shower without them falling off but you have to wait 24 hours afterward. That is, if it's done correctly, they shouldn't fall off if you wait 24 hours to expose it to water.

Be careful & be safe! 💕

These are NOT lash extensions and shouldn't be applied as lash extensions. Eyelash extensions are individual synthetic or silk hairs dipped into medical grade adhesive and applied to ONE individual natural lash. Sadly many people refer to these as eyelash extensions on YouTube and there are places that offer this is as a service and call it eyelash extensions. People apply these clusters onto your lashes covering multiple natural lashes at once with the glue and cluster. What happens when you have 4 lashes stuck together is one may be on its last stage of hair growth (there are 3 stages) & it'll be ready to shed and it pulls the other lashes with it even though they weren't ready to shed yet, resulting in lash damage and loss of natural lashes. I had a lady come to me who paid 250$ for a full set of 'lash extensions' and this is what they did and at the end she had hardly any lashes left and they were stubs. Thank goodness she knew something wasn't right and came to me and I explained what happened and we immediately removed them but still suffered a lot of lash damage.
These are meant to be used like strip lashes, they are meant to be applied to the lash line and removed the same day. Not being a licensed or certified professional you wouldn't be able to buy medical grade semi permanent adhesive but even using drugstore glue with these on your natural lashes for more than a day will cause them to pull out your natural lashes. I know some people buy the glue from eBay and that's why there's so many people who aren't licensed performing this service and posting things in YouTube but I HIGHLY suggest against it. it's OK to use with drugstore temporary glue like I mentioned, applied on the lash line but even that can be damaging to your natural lashes over time just like strip lashes are. I'm a licensed esthetician & lash extensionist and it's very sad to see so many people come in with no lashes left because they were tricked into thinking these were real lash extensions or they did it on themselves at home. Hope this helps :) Sorry for such a long answer but it drives me crazy how many people do this & don't care how damaging it is.

On a side note if you're considering getting eyelash extensions done professionally (which is the only way) make sure you do your research! And the price doesn't always reflect the job. If it's cheap it's a good chance it won't be done right because you want to go to someone using the best supplies and it's a very labor intensive job that requires a lot of expensive training and that should reflect the person's pricing. however I've had people come to me who paid twice as much as normal & ended up with clusters or a horrible job. It's very important to do your research and know what to look for. I had a client come in today before my lunch break who went somewhere else and although they were a nice salon & had good reviews and weren't clusters they were real lash extensions with good glue, they didn't isolate properly and she had many lashes stuck together & had no idea. she came to me for a removal because they were itchy and assumed she was allergic but in reality all her lashes were being yanked out together and they were way too thick if extensions for her natural lash and after the removal had huge gaps of missing lashes :( I felt so bad for her. I just wanted to mention this because you said price was an issue for getting extensions but if you ever changed your mind just make sure you do your research and ask a lot of questions!

It's my pleasure! I hope they start regulating it better & all the false advertisement drives me crazy. I looked up the product on the link that was shared and it says 6 weeks you can wear them! wtf! No wonder people don't know any better, I can't believe a company like that would advertise something like that. if you ever decide to get them let me know I may know someone in your area :)
