Bunny has said herself that Texas Toast looks different on everybody so not everyone gets it to look exactly like what's in the tube. If you're that unhappy with it just return it. From the picture I think it looks fine.

I also wanna say this reminds me of androgyny by j star but his is a little more warm with a red to it which doesn't wash me out as much!

Thank you! This picture makes it look okay. In person it reminds me more of cement (gray) by limecrime with a slight purple undertone.

I've always been well aware that lipsticks look completely different on different people. my mom is fairly dark skinned (she's about an nc45) so I learned that lesson quick when I would steal her lipsticks, especially the nudes and pinks. I've always assumed this was common knowledge but I see comments like yours more and more often and it makes me wonder. don't get me wrong you sharing this was helpful because I always like to see a lipstick in as many lights as possible. can I ask what foundation shade you wear?

I always try to be optimistic that it'll look the same as the more cool toned models it's on when I come across them. I wear medium sand by tarte in their Amazonian clay line. I'm more of a fair olive. Both my parents are Italian and have beautiful dark olive skin. As well as my brother. I got stuck on the lighter end. BUT I can't complain about the tan I get when I'm out and about in the sun. What's some of your moms go to tones? I'm on the hunt for a color like Texas toast that'll go with my skin tone more.

I know what you mean. I have androgyny and it looks almost just like that on me. it pulls more red than the purple/red/mauve color some people turn it in to. ofras Staten island is also more grey than I wanted but it's workable. as much as I hate lime crime I find their cashmere shade to be almost perfect for me. good thing there are a half dozen dupes for it. lol. I love the color I get when I mix androgyny with colourpops midi, I wish I could find that pre made. if you have any suggestions I'll take them lol. I always seem to be just a tad too light for all my favorite colors to show up like I want. if I'm under a bright light they look perfect, maybe I can find a way to walk around with a ring light all day...hmm
I'd have to ask her what brand she actually wears because I know it's not mac, but her favorites are probably closest to mac del rio and twig. she also always has a chocolate brown shade. when I was little she had a favorite lip gloss that was chocolate brown and smelled and tasted like chocolate. she was always mysteriously losing it in my room...lol

Moms cosmetics were always the best when we were kids! I really appreciate your suggestions. I'm not a huge fan of limecrime either, so I'm glad there's plenty of dupes! I'm not sure if you've tried any of Bite Beauty's products yet but they're BOMB. They get a little matte but the company started because of their Chapstick/moisturizing feel. They also have a huge variety of shades which is nice. Their lip crayons are super nice and seem to wear a little better than their makeup line. It seems like they're always coming out with new colors too which is nice. I originally got their color radish as a Sephora points reward and I fell in love with it. It's this bright pink that's flattering without being too severe.

I've heard some great things about bite lipsticks before. I may cave and get one some day. I've just been so obsessed with liquid formulas because they're low maintenance and theyve taken up my collection.

Yeah, I have this problem A LOT when it comes o more nude shades lol I'm medium with a golden olive tone (yellow tone with green cast that I see quite a bit in Indian women) and nudes that tend to look good on others look very muddy, darker or grayish on me.
Which is why I prefer bolder lip colors. They tend to look the way they're supposed to more-so than when I wear neutral/nudes.

I have the same problem as well. I have an Olive skin tone with verh prominent yellow undertones and colors like this always look so oddly cool-toned on me, even though they pull warmer on others. It's so odd an frustrating. I ordered some darker nude colors from colourpop and I was bummed to find they look completely different on me than everyone else and I looked at them on many different skintones/undertones. :( haha. That being said, I don't think it looks bad against your skintone.
