Yea you do have to go in for 1 appointment and 1 blood test each month BUT you don't have to take birth control if you don't want to. My two birth control options were abstinence and latex condoms and I didnt have to take a birth control pill :)

Idk if it will work for you but it worked a bit for me. Only exfoliate every 3 or 4 days and use a toner daily

What kind of toner do you suggest?

Hi Emma, have you looked at your diet? A lot of people don't realise how much diet can effect their skin. Some simple adjustments to your diet together with reducing your stress levels can make a huge difference. Try a gentle cleanser (not one of these harsh cleansers that claim to be made specifically to target acne, when in fact a lot of them make the issue worse). La Roche-Posay do a lovely one... Toleriane, I haven't used any other cleanser since discovering that one. Then a treatment for your acne, I.e, their Effaclar treatment that contain salicylic acid. It's best to try something for a while & not swap around with all different lotions and potions as it will no doubt make things worse. Reducing stress levels is key, which I know is like a vicious circle with acne as you stress as soon as you wake up in the morning. And then the basics, don't touch your face whatsoever unless cleansing and adding treatment with clean hands. Wash hair regularly, try using a shampoo without spf. Tap water can be a big problem for some people so you could try a bit of bottled water (only takes a bit to wash your face) with some cotton pads & your cleanser. There are many different type of acne, where yours is located is usually hormonal. Reducing your internal inflammation will help...

I am not a Dr so can only say the things that I know have worked for myself & others & wish you much success with it. xxx
