Blue Hair Dye Worries?

Hey guys, so I'm thinking about dyeing my hair blue, however I only want it temporarily and I'm worried about how long it will stay and if it will drain my hair

I've dyed my hair pink and purple using manic panic dyes at home (they are what I plan I dyeing with) and I feel like I'm comfortable enough to not have to go to a salon to get it done, but I'm worried about if the blue is going to come out as easily as the pinks and purple does.

And to go with that when I used the pinks and purples my hair was darker than it currently is, from going golden blonde to near platinum

Anyone have any insight?

Thanks!

I had blue hair and got it done professionally with my hair bleached to basically white. After I stopped taking special care of it the color did fade but very gradually and it took MONTHS for it to fade to green/teal. I don't know about staining, I cut mine off instead of trying to dye it another color. So the color on you will be nice and vibrant since your hair is lighter and it'll probably take awhile to fade.

Also, my hair just holds dye very well so that could be why mine took as long as it did to fade. Your hair may be different.

Well, red pigment tends to fade kind of quickly. It's one of the colors that has to keep being recolored.
The pigment to make pink I'm sure they use some of the red pigment, same with purple.

Blue, on the other hand can stick a little better.
Also, since your hair is lighter, it's more likely to be stained so it would last longer.
I mean, hair dye can stain any hair but you dot really see it on darker hairs but when you bleach them you can tell it had color and you can see the tone/stained hair more.

How long color lasts can also be effected by your hair porosity. If your hair is very porous then color will fade quickly.
Just make sure you use color-safe products and try washing hair in cooler water rather than hot water.

I bleached my own hair to a level 9, and dyed blue (ion brights) My hair was very porous after the bleach, and I thought it was going to fade fast, but it didn't. I used to refresh the color every couple of months. When I stopped refreshing it, it just fade to a light blue instead of green which I was glad because I don't like green.
