Which one lasts longer and what brands are good?

Shellac is a type of gel. it goes on natural nails. when you say gel nails, I suppose you mean the kind with extensions and powder. they are very different. if you have nice long nails, I suggest shellac, which will last 2 to 4 weeks. if you want length and a really solid nail, then gel.
