Hello! I can't get my foundation to last more than 3 hours! I moisturise and use primer and sometimes setting powder but nothing is working! tried many primers and foundations and no hope! Any ideas?

What foundations, moisturisers, primers and setting powders have you tried? What combinations? What's your skin type?

Abbie S.
I have use Mac studio fix Mac Pro longer waterproof foundations and many cheap boots store ones. I have tried all Mac primers and rimmel primer. I have tried Mac studio fix powder and translucent setting powder and rimmel powder. My skin is combination/ dry.

What products are you using for your skin care?

Abbie S.
Dermalogica cleanser toner and moisturiser.

Do you mind posting which products you're using? If the product contains solvent alcohols, fragrances and other irritants it may be dehydrating your skin. When your skin becomes dehydrated, it will want to compensate for the lack of moisture by creating more oil (which is where you get the combination of both dry and oily at the same spot. )
That may be contributing to why your make up won't last very long. While I wouldn't expect oily skin types to have their foundation last ten hours, having skincare with products that use a non drying formula will help slow down the oil production.

Thanks!
So these are the ingredients
Active ingredients: Avobenzone 2.50%, Octinoxate 6.00%, Octisalate 5.00%, Oxybenzone, 4.00%.. Other ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Cyclopentasiloxane, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Silica, Dimethyl Capramide, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Cariandrum Sativum (Coriander) Fruit Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Flower Oil, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Elettaria Cardamomum Seed Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Leaf Oil, Lavandula Hybrida Oil, Salvia Sclarea (Clary) Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil, Enantia Chlorantha Bark Extract, Arctium Lappa Root Extract, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Betula Alba Bark Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Oleanolic Acid, Tocopherol, Cetearyl Phosphate, Stearic Acid, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Nylon-12, Xanthan Gum, Cetyl Alcohol, Aminomethyl Propanol, Sodium Benzoate, Disodium EDTA, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891).
Near the very top of the ingredient list, I see several fragrant oils
Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil
Cariandrum Sativum (Coriander) Fruit Oil
Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Peel Oil
Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Peel Oil
Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Flower Oil
Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil
Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil
Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil
Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Leaf Oil
Lavandula Hybrida Oil, Salvia Sclarea (Clary) Oil
Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil
These are all fragrant oils which will irritate the pore. When your skin becomes irritated by these ingredients, a chemical known as neuropeptides is released into the brain. When this occurs, your skin will release more oil and enlarge your pores. I can see why your skin is both oily and dry, the lotion isn't doing much to help!
I'd look into both your toner and cleanser as well, and make sure there is no fragrance and solvent alcohol.
(If it smells of anything, it more than likely contains fragrance.)
This applies to both natural and synthetic ingredients. When it comes to skin care, natural doesn't necessarily mean better.
I'd re-evaluate the ingredients in your product... a tiny bit of fragrance is okay when it's listed last. Sensitive skin types will have to avoid irritants as much as possible as it can burn.
The fact is, ingredients are labelled by most to least amount used. A bit of perfume is okay, but this moisturizer is mostly fragrance! It might as well be a big bottle of perfume lotion! I'd personally resort to using it on your body so product isn't wasted and taking a bit of time to focus on your skin so you don't have to deal with oil and dehydration.

You can use a source like Beautypedia, which will list fragrance free, solvent alcohol free, and irritant free products.
They do reviews on all products, but you can use the filters to arrange to see the best products for your skin type.
( I have already filtered out moisturizers for you in the provided link).

You can also use the website CosDNA by plugging in the ingredients, and it will inform you on which ingredients are harmful. It is not always exactly accurate, but it provides good feedback.

Skip the moisturizer! sometimes that is the reason my foundation slips away easily lol

I agree with skylar! I never use moisturizer before putting on My foundation. I would suggest you only using the primer, or at least try and see if it gets better :)
