Why is my my compact make up making my skin look dry?

I have rosacea--a skin condition that makes my cheeks and neck red and have little bumps. I've found products that help reduce redness and L'Oreal True Match Compact Make-Up has helped make my skin look better--but also make it look VERY peely and dry...especially now that it is winter!
My face is fine beforehand. I use Cetaphil cleanser and Aveeno ultra-calming moisturizer in the morning when I wash my face...but I wait a couple hours before putting make up on. So I'm not sure why it makes it look so dry.
Is there a make up someone would recommend that wouldn't make my face look dry and would also cover the redness well? L'Oreal was recommended best for rosacea coverage so I would appreciate some other suggestions. Thank you!!

Ps: Other products that seemed to work (but didn't have much coverage) were Physician's Formula BB Cream and BB Powder. It also would look somewhat oily after awhile.

If you really like that makeup maybe you could try applying a hydrating primer beforehand? I'm honestly not sure which would be best as I'm on the oily side, but I know Makeup Forever has primers for different purposes.
Do you exfoliate?

Wayne Goss has a video that recommends mixing a drop of oil with your foundation to so that it doesn't cling to dry patches or fine lines. Another this is do you exfoliate regularly to get rid of your dry, dead skin? Also I recommend using a green tinted CC cream or face primer before you put on your foundation. It will help neutralize the redness you have, so you'll be able to wear less foundation and hopefully that will help with your dryness!

One more thing! Lol, maybe you should try switching to L'Oreal True Match liquid foundation instead of a poster compact. I stopped using powder makeup and switched to liquid and I definitely saw a huge change in the overall appearance to my makeup.

Great thinking about the liquid foundation--also I use a green tinted primer from Physician's Formula and it somewhat does the job. Great tips! I will browse these options (:

Mac Care Blend Compact powder is targeted towards dry skin. It has a much softer, creamier feel and finish than the other Mac powders. Because of that creamy texture, it adheres to the skin better. It's not a powder foundation but I feel it gives a little more coverage than a regular compact powder. Somewhere in between a powder foundation and a regular powder. I would go to Mac and try it out before buying.

My skin is really dry. It soaks up most foundations only to leave my skin looking dry, patchy, uneven. My best solution is exfoliate and use something like Embryolese.

Use a good moisturizer and a very silicone based primer.
I find silicone based gel primers are really meant for dry skin so that foundation glides on better and doesn't allow the foundation to cling onto dry areas.

If you but makeup from Mac then that explains why your skin is so dry.
