Hey everyone so I have been seeing lots of things saying vinegar and mayonnaise (separate, not mixed) are good for your hair. Are they really? if so, what do they do?

I have heard mayo is a good conditioner for the hair.

Mayo is made with oil basically...and that's why it helps to moisturizer the hair. I think vinegar strips impurities but could be wrong. You can also make a hair mask with coconut oil.

I've used a mayonnaise mask before and I didn't find it particularly moisturizing and I was gagging the whole time it was on my hair. I smelled mayo for a couple days after. It was disgusting lol.

I'm with Angeline. Yuk smell for around 3 days. My Indian friends told me that it was good, yuk, almost as bad as coconut oil, can't stand the smell of either. I love my Pro Naturals argan oil hair mask I use it one every 2 weeks.

Hmm may I ask what the purpose of the Mayonnaise is? Mayonnaise is already made with Vinegar, so using the two either seperate or together would be an overkill in my opinion.
I personally don't do any hair treatment / wash with Vinegar (or baking soda) because the end result is actually the same as using a harsh product... The PH is too high for hair.
Instead, I prefer to use the yolk of an egg and mix it with oils and avocado as well as Glycerin or Honey.. Ingredients are controlled and makes for a perfect protein-moisture balanced mask.

I think its really upto you to decide if you like it or not because the purpose of a mayo mask is because of the oil and egg in it. But really, I recommend mixing oil and an egg yolk and using that instead of mayo as a hair mask. And EstericOdium Q. mentioned that its a lice treatment, which is true.

People use vinegar rinses with apple cider vinegar dilluted in water after using a baking soda (the no-poo method) rinse, because some people like washing their hair with natural ingredients. I believe baking soda is basic on the ph scale and vinegar is, as you know, acidic. So I only recommend doing a vinegar rinse if what youre using before it is basic, so that you don't throw off your natural ph level so much. I've done it before and tbh it really works amazingly. It gets rid of all the excess gunk on your scalp and in your hair and really makes your hair feel cleaner, much much much softer and made mine a little shinier and more healthy looking.:)
