Hello! So I have a very important meeting tomorrow and am wondering what tips you guys have for minimizing the flaky dry patches, especially for acne. Of course I had to breakout the day before.
I exfoliated today using Estee Lauder Perfectly clean wash with oatmeal. Lancome tonique confort toner. My moisturizer is the FAB ultra repair cream.
Tomorrow I plan on using toner, moisturizing and letting that dry, then using the Lancome La Base primer, letting that dry.
My face gets really red, my acne is also slightly red so I'm going to use the MUFE yellow primer on red areas,
Then go over that with the either my lancome foundation (forgot the name) or too faced born this way.

Any application tips or tips in general to reduce the dry patches or the foundation sticking to them?

Thanks!

How do you apply your foundation?

With a damp sponge or a flat brush (sonia kashuk) or a flat angled brush (sishiedo)

I don't have dry skin, but when I've done makeup on someone that does. I apply a good skin oil, like argan oil or a good face moisturizer. let it sit for at least 5 min. I use a silicone primer, like Maybelline Baby Skin. Apply the foundation with a damp spounge. and I use a moisturizing setting spray.

I use retin a and it makes my skin peel. A good way to soften of flaky skin is to use Vaseline, just put it on for like 15 min to let it soften the dead skin and when you wipe it off the flakiness will go away too. Sometimes I apply it the night before like a mask and it definitely helps but I wouldn't do it every time since petroleum really locks in everything and locks out everything

I don't have very dry skin anymore, but I will tell you how I apply mine for my combination-normal skin: I obviously start off with my basic skincare routine and moisturizing and then about 5-10 minutes of letting all that absorb into my skin, I use a silicon primer. The type of primer you use will be based on the ingredients in your foundation. Water and oil don't mix as you probably know and foundations and primers work the same way if you don't use the proper ones together. After I've cleansed, moisturized, and prepped my skin, I like to apply my foundation with a damp beauty blender and set with powder. Very basic, but hopefully it was some help lol.

I've had this issue a LOT. I work 12 hour shifts and at around the 5-6 hour mark I was having to use remover wipes and reapply. It sucked! I started using more moisturizer (I moisturizer right out of the shower, let it soak in, and then reapply another layer to my problem spots) let it soak in and almost dry, then I apply my primer. With the primer I use it all over but focus on the problem spots again and instead of wiping it with my hands, I pat it in where I get flaky and peely. I then let that soak in and become almost 100% dry )takes about a total of 10 minutes for both moisturizer and primer) and then apply my foundation with a flat top brush.

I did experiment with a lot of foundations before I started this routine with the moisturizer and primer. I now use Covergirl Aquasmooth foundation because I have horrific acne and refuse to go outside without full coverage. This stuff lasts me the full 12 hours with very minimal flaking (only flakes around the pimples) and I don't have to reapply it at all throughout the night.

Thank you guys so much. Any recommendations for a moisturizing setting spray?
