Hey guys! For my entire life, I've had insanely poofy, frizzy, and gross hair and have been unable to wear it down without straightening it. Do you guys have any ideas on how I can depoof it so I can wear it down? Thanks!

Do you use any type of oil or leave in out of the shower?

I love the Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Hair Serum. That stuff makes my hair really smooth and shiny and pretty much eliminates all my natural frizzies and flyaways. A little goes a long way with this stuff too, a bottle lasts forever. They also have it in travel size at Ulta beauty and Sally Beauty Supply has a generic version of it that imo is a spot on dupe for the real thing for a small fraction of the cost.

Thanks Traci, I'll probably try it.
Aleena- I sometimes use Moroccan oil when my hair is dry

Oooo I can help! I have finally after 20 years depoofed my hair lol
first use a sulphate free shampoo; I LOVE loreal pure sleek shampoo and conditioner.
second use a deep conditioning mask like Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque..its expensive but man its worth it...if you really can't afford it then try Keune Balm Conditioner..its not as good but definitely comparable.
now to the DIY: take equal parts honey and yoghurt. add in a few drops of any hair oil that you like. cover your hair in the mixed goop and leave it on for half hour..wash with shampoo and Conditioner if needed but sulphate free ones...tadaaa depoofed hair! if you live in a humid environment then add in a serum to your routine...after you air dry hair, put in John Freida Thermal Protection Serum...then either let hair be or style as you wish..I usually don't apply serum to soaking wet hair..I always apply it on half dried hair even if I want to blow dry...no direct heat on wet hair...let me know if all of this helps...people compliment my hair all the time now??
