I had no idea what category to put this it, I'm sorry!

My local Ulta back in California didn't have The Salon but my local store in new York does so I've been very curious about it!

Has anyone gotten anything done at The Salon (hair, nails, skin, anything) and how was your experience?

I know customer service and the expertise of the people that work there will be different everywhere but I just want a general idea of if it's worth checking out and spending money there. Thanks so much!

I have had my hair cut at the salon twice, and had my bangs trimmed once, and each time it's been a different ulta employee, but every time I've been incredibly happy with it!

I've personally never gone, but I know a girl who went to get a haircut and the lady cut a random chunk of hair off! And then proceeded to say that it looked 'cute'. Hearing about that kind of made me fear it, lol.

I don't like that it's so out in the open. shoppers can walk by as your getting your hair done. my ulta has the dermalogica facial area in a little corner w/ a faux wall. no peace & quiet. the services themselves were fine, but you don't feel that salon experience.

Thank you, everyone! (: The fact that it's very out in the open doesn't really bother me but I can see how it ruins the proper "salon experience" feeling.

My friend after beauty school got a job there and while it seems nice I don't think its what its made out to be. he got no training. so you really don't know what your going to get. he did leave and got a new job. maybe that's just at my ulta around here. but just a heads up.

Just look at the posts on their Facebook wall. If I was you I would run far, far away from the salon.

Thank you, girls!

Marissa, as I said, experiences will be different everywhere and the reviews I've found for my local Ulta were all years old so I'm just looking for a general idea (:

That's very true Alexis! I would just be a little wary of them, well for hair at least.

From my understanding, the salon is pretty much there so they can carry professional hair lines. I know a few people who work at ulta salons and they pretty much don't give a crap about their work or clients.

I'll definitely have a conversation with someone at the salon next time I'm at Ulta, maybe see if they have a portfolio or something, but thank you everyone!

I got a gel manicure there once (my first ever). The finished result looked absolutely awful - like a 12 year-old did them; and the polish peeled off within a matter of days. I was extremely disappointed, and it's turned me off from ever doing a gel manicure anywhere ever again.

I'm sorry to hear that, Bailey, but thank you for sharing your experience!

I've gotten haircuts and trims from their salon, mostly during their cut a thon for breast cancer. They were really nice and did a great job! I had a great experience overall. (:

I got a cut there on a whim while shopping and was overcharged. It looked okay but the next time I went somewhere else, the stylist was like "ummm...where'd you get your last haircut?" Then explained to me and showed me what was done incorrectly.

I have been getting my hair cuts there and no problems. I can ask for who I want. Also had gel nails done, loved they used a new package of tools each time. Had hair color once, loved it. And I've been to the Dermalogica skin stuff as well, yes it is a partition and on a busy day I had no issue with noise.Once I did get a bad hair cut, I called and was asked to come back when it worked for me. It was fixed to my liking. Other than that 1 time, all has been good.

I went to Ulta thinking I was going to get a real nice hair cut. I showed the girl the picture (front and side view) of the hair cut I wanted (asymmetrical long bob) she started to cut I felt comfortable because the girl was very nice and seem to know what was she doing at the middle of the hair cut she stopped to do a lady's makeup she told me if I wanted some one else to finish my hair I told her I'd wait. I wanted her to finish because I liked how my hair was looking. She thinned out my hair and straightened it but at the end she told me she left her blade at home, so I didn't get the texture that I was thinking to get. I liked the girl but I thought it was unprofessional not to have all the styling tools at work.

I had an awesome experience at my Ulta, very recently. I booked an appointment through my mobile app, and made sure to book a senior stylist, which I always do, especially since I was getting a pixie cut, that is very difficult to get quite right. The women who did my hair, did an amazing cut, really taking the time to make sure the cut could work several different ways. I think just depends on who does your hair, I actually had an amazing experience, and was given the a $30 for first time customers, even though I had a master stylist who wasn't supposed to be covered with the coupon.
