So I'm looking for a good self tanner that is beginner friendly. The thing is though, I don't want to go extremely dark or anything. I just want to unify my body color a little so when I go outside my legs and arms aren't uber pale in certain areas. Ideally, I'd like to be in the same shade or maybe 1 shade darker for foundation so I don't always have to grab a few different colors depending on if I used the self tanner or not. I was thinking about the vita liberata phenomenal tan in light, but that's really expensive. I'm willing to pay it if I hear it's good, but I was wondering if anyone else has tried something that's similar in results? I'm a light skin tone (118 in MUFE HD, Light sand Tart Amazonian clay. Not sure Mac CUZ I'm more neutral). Thanks in advance!

I'm quite pale and a self-tanning noob but I've had pretty good results with Jergens Natural Glow. They make two different shades, fair-medium and dark, I believe. It does smell a bit tho but I think almost all self tanners do.

It blends into the skin well but it's hard to tell sometimes if you missed any spots because it isn't tinted since it's a gradual tanner. Oh and it does take a few days to build up to its full intensity. In my experience it takes about a week of daily use for the final result, after that I only apply it twice a week to maintain the color.

I use this from Sallys, it gives me a great tan in one use, I use my hands and applt it everywhere and then wash my hands with hot water and soap and once it dries, which isn't long, I go to bed and wake up with a beautiful tan and if I want to go darker, I do it again after I take a shower that night and build it up until I'm happy. Definitely don't forget to wash your hands haha, it's not a pretty site if you don't.

St Tropez mousse is a natural looking tan! I love that stuff. More brown based than orangey based which gives the natural look more.

How dark does St. Tropez go? And any tips for application?

I use the dark mousse and I have a very lucky skin tone. You should purchase the application hand pad as well for a even application without streaks. First step is to shower and exfoliate your skin to get rid of dead skin for a smooth application. After your shower you wanna moisturize using any type of body lotion. Let that sink in (the longer you let it sink in the better). Then apply the mousse with the pad. I apply it in circle motions and focus on each part of my body at a time (calves, thighs, upper arm, lower arm... Etc..)
when you're done stand there for 5 mins and let it dry then put on loose clothing. I do all of this at night so I can sit with the mousse on while I sleep. When I wake up I shower once again to get off the top layer that is super dark. After that you should have a nice natural glow to your skin! Hope that helps! :)
