My lipstick dropped on the street and the actual product hit the pavement a week ago. I sliced off a good cm of it today (hadnt used it like ever since it fell) to get rid of the contaminated area, but can I still use it?

Some people would say yes, just spray it with some alcohol first, but personally, I probably wouldn't. Just go out and buy a new one, if possible.

I would rub the entire thing with isopropyl alcohol and it should be sanitized fully. You've already taken out most of the contaminated areas. So unless there's any deep scratches in it, once wiped with alcohol it should be good to use.

I personally would not.

You could sanitize it but I personally wouldn't use it.

I personally wouldn't use it unless it was a high end very expensive one that would be harder for me to re purchase.

I would use it if it was properly sanitized, but that's just me.

You don't need to do anything! If it's not preservative free, the preservatives in it are meant to fight any bacteria that might get into or on any product, spraying alcohol and all that can ruin your lipstick, hope it's not too late! lol.

Glenda- alcohol won't ruin lipstick, or any makeup except foundation. It's a disinfectant that companies know all makeup artists will sanitize them. They don't have anything in them that react with alcohol. It'll evaporate too.

I would use it. I cannot think of any reason not to tbh lol:) If the part that touched the ground is gone then...I just don't get what the problem would be.

Lol, yea.. I wouldn't throw it away. That's a waste and a little ridiculous imo. As long as you sanitize it, you're good.

If it just fell on the street, I feel like it's definitely not dangerous. You've scraped off the bad part, so you're good! I agree with Shanae, I think it's slightly ridiculous to throw it out

Mac lipstick I would keep I don't have money to waste...a dollar lipstick I would toss out.

I wouldn't throw it out. Just cut the bad bit off and alcohol the rest and you're all sweet xx

I would use it as is with the part cut off.

Alcohol is fine and effective.

Personally, I would toss it and purchase a new one; just think about all the differing things that come into direct contact with the pavement. At the same time, I'm just like R T. lol.
