I know that my mum wouldn't want shimmer all over her eyelid but that's just my mum. I can imagine the matte would look better though with the shimmer in he corners

It's better to use mattes on the eyelid and in the crease, because shimmery eyeshadows will only draw attention to the fine lines, not to mention creasing. And yes, it's a good ideas to brighten up the inner corner because there are less wrinkles. Don't forget to bring it out to the tearducts, so it doesn't look like an unblended spot.
Maybe I would suggest some beige kajal on the waterline. And brown mascara, since your Mom is blonde.

I'm sorry I kind of laughed when I read this especially when you mentioned your mother young age which isn't near mature skin. You can use anything as long as you know what your doing and they have great skin. Look at some celebs around that age and you'll see its really simple.you'll do great just don't over think it :)

I admit, I was surprised at some of the responses as well, Alma. I think skin condition is a big factor in what's most flattering to use. I have seen some younger women that have deep creasing or skin issues due to sun exposure, heredity, dryness, etc. Good luck, Shannie. It's sweet of you to treat her.

I agree with everything Marta Z said, definitely don't use shimmer. Also tell her to start wearing more sunscreen because she shouldn't be tanning her skin at this point! She can get spray tanned for a safe alternative but I think it's always preferable to be a little pale than to rock the sun damaged look later on.
