So I'm going to be an exchange student in missouri in august and whilst I'm there ill be going to school and doing all of the typical american stuff.
for my first week at school, what should I wear? I'm from australia so I can't wear anything cultural (as opposed to someone from a country like india with beautiful dresses) so I'm rather limited and getting a bit desperate.
also, what kind of dress codes & make up/style codes will there be? its a public school so I assume they wouldnt be too harsh?

I was just looking for general rules that would apply for most school. for the first day I was thinking of a long sleeve top, a maxi skirt and maybe some converse? long sleeve to cover the shoulders and cleavage, maxi skirt to look cute and converse because I don't think your allowed open toed shoes?? but those are just American tv/movie stereotypes:-)

Well unless the school has a uniform or an extremely strict dress code I'm sure you'll be fine. I've never heard of a school not being allowed to wear open toed shoes. I live in Illinois and most schools rules are you have to wear thick straps tank tops so no off the shoulder tops and no midriff showing also your shorts have to be like mid thigh. If it's a public school I'm sure those will be the rules. You can wear any amount of makeup you feel comfortable with

Hi! I'm not from Sullivan, but my school plays yours in sports! Typically in MO weather is all over so bring jackets with you (or purchase some, I understand it can be quite hot in AUS, so you might not have any). Dress code here is kind of lame, usually you cannot show your stomach or shoulders during school and shorts have to be a certain length, but they are more relaxed on shorts. You can wear anything that else that sits in the guidelines! I hope this helps! good luck.
