So, I'm an aspiring makeup artist, and I really want a single bronzer, for my everyday contour, instead of having to lug my contour kit around (I tend to do my makeup on the go, almost everyday) so I was thinking out saving up for either Bahama Mama by The Balm, or Hoola bronzer by Benefit. I want something to sculpt me out, and is matte :) thank you!! Just looking for some opinions :)

I love hoola by benefit sooo much because it isn't orange & is matte!

I haven't tried hoola so I can't compare, but I loved bahama mama! Really all of theBalm's bronzers and blushes are fantastic.

I haven't tried them so I can't compare but benefit tests on animals if that means anything

Well, if you are truly wanting to be a makeup artist then I can tell you, using bronzer for contouring is a big NO-NO! Bronzers often have a far too orangey tone to them which causes the places you apply them to look muddy (if not applied in the right places). Contouring is done mainly to reinstate the shadows, your bone structure creates, that have been hidden or muted out by foundation. This being said you definitely want to use a cool grey toned contouring product, not a bronzer. Bronzer adds warmth to your face, shadows are not warm. Bronzer can be added to the high points of your face, or where the sun hits first. Contouring products are completely different. I know Alma and Jackie recommend the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder, and if you want to try something else, get a kit by Smashbox or Nars or something. For a full rundown on how to contour according to face shape and stuff, I would ask Jackie, she is awesome with explaining it.

Thank you! I just assumed Hoola and Bahama Mama were made for contouring, since that's how everyone I've seen uses them. I have a contouring pallet, but I just don't want to have to up my makeup bag size (like I do now) because of it, so I just wanted a single compact type item, but thank you again, I'll have to do some more research!

oops I didn't even read that you wanted to use these to contour.. hoola & bahama mama are bronzers!
it irritates me so much & looks kinda wack (imo) when people contour with warm shades since you do want to mimic a shadow with a cool toned shade.
I use hoola by benefit to add warmth to my face and it does a great job.
