I heard that using Head and shoulders can fade hair dye, but I'm sure its going to take a lot of washes to fade black.

My mom had deep red hair and in 3/4 washes it was a light pink that they could dye over.

You can try Prell shampoo, that's what I use whenever I get a bad dye job to fade it. You can get it at most drugstores.

Black is the hardest color to fade. It usually takes a number of bleaching to remove. I'd suggest going to a professional. It'll fade unevenly and can turn a number of weird colors if taken out improperly. You can try harsh shampoos, but those have the possibility of fading it to green, red, orange etc.depending on the dye and what was underneath it. I wouldn't suggest a bleach bath without going to a professional unless you're experienced with bleaching your own hair.
