Sorry if this isn't in the right category. I need relief from my winter scalp. I've tried a few shampoos that didn't work. so I searched for a home remedy and stumbled upon apple cider vinegar. Has anyone actually tried this method and how did it work for you? thanks!!

I wouldn't recomend it. it throws off the pH of your scalp and does more damage then good. I actually had a client come in for a color and ended up getting Burns all over her head. she then told me she did an apple cider vinegar rinse prior to coming in.

I haven't personally tried it but the pH of apple cider vinegar is so close to the skins pH that I don't think it would cause a problem... Now mixing it with other chemicals (like those in hair dye) is probably not the best idea (as shown by Kelly's comment) but if you are just rinsing and won't be coloring your hair anytime soon I don't see the harm in it - but it may or may not give you the results you are looking for since I don't think ACV is the most moisturizing thing ever... I would try coconut oil or another moisturizing oil instead and see if that helps.
