My hair was dyed blonde but I'd like it to be a few shades lighter, how can I lighten it without bleaching?

There's this product called sun-in (I believe you can get it at Walmart or Sally's) and basically I think you just spray it in and go out in the sun for a while then wash it out! I personally haven't tried it though.

Lemon is safe as long as you do it at least every other week or one a week! I've been doing it for years!!

Sun In works great but can be very drying. It works fast though... Just be sure to use a good deep conditioner.

Don't use lemon. It messes with the pH of your skin and the keratin I believe.

I wouldn't use Sun-in. My mom used to use it and she went to get her hair dyed and they refused to do it because of the product. They cut off a part and put it in the dye and her hair dissolved. I've used lemon and even though people say it can be damaging I think it depends on how well you take care of your hair. I have really thick healthy hair and it never damaged it. I only used it occasionally though but it did work! That's just with my experience and at the time I had never dyed my hair before and I rarely used heat.

You could use a blonde dye, a lot of people are against it because it's basically build up, but I've done it multiple times, every time lighten my hair actually. I use revlon colorsilk dye in Sun blonde, it lightens my hair quite a bit due to the lightening agents in it. It's not at all damaging in my opinion, but I'm not guaranteeing that it won't damage yours. Everyones hair is different.

I would research Toners, which can be purchased at Sally Beauty. I don't know much about using a toner, as I've only recently used it for the first time after bleaching my hair in preparation for a semi permanent blue dye. Maybe someone else on here could give some insight on using a toner on blonde hair?

Chamomile tea is actually a product that we use a lot in Mexico. We even have a whole hair care line based on it for those who want to lighten their hair. I'd recommend making a very concentrated cup of plain chamomile tea with 4-6 bags in it, or if you can make it organic and strain the flowers that's even better, and then take that ultra concentrated formula and mix it into your shampoo and whatever leave-in-conditioner you use. It won't affect their formula, but it will infuse them with whatever lightening properties the flowers have for your hair.
