Any recommendations for a hair dye brand (UK) that does purple dye? I have dark brown hair and want to dye it a dark purple and some people said I don't need to bleach it if it's dark. Thoughts? Thanks :)

It's not going to show up if you have dark hair. you'll have to bleach it of you want to be able to see it.

Manic panic won't show up, trust me I've tried it before and anyone who does hair will tell you that too.

I dunno if they have it in the UK
But garnier makes hair dye specifically for dark hair
I haven't tried their dark purple but I tried their reds and it works amazingly well

Purple dye will work on dark hair. As long as you get one that says it's for darker hair colors. Garnier nutrisse and loreal hi color are both amazing and work on dark hair.

Purple will show up depending on the color. A dark purple is better than a light purple. Any direct dye (manic panic, directions, special effects, etc) will create a tint on dark hair that may or may not only be seen in sunlight.
I wouldn't use a purple for dark hair like Shanae mentioned unless you plan on permanently being purple. Since it penetrate your current color and staining the hair shaft. it will not fade to your current color, it'll have a permanent purple tint that would have to be dyed darker or cut off.

I used Directions plum and my virgin hair parts didn't absorb the dye as much as bleached parts did. Also it faded after one wash (that's probably because of me, I accidentally used hot water and everywhere turned blue -,-)
But my friend used Jean's Color blue on Her virgin black hair and it showed better than my dye did.

If you used manic panic amplified that works really well and I did my hair with manic panic ultra violet over my dark brown hair and like nothing happened my hair just looked black and a very slight tint of purple in some light so then my hairdresser suggested bleaching highlights and so she did it and then I just stuck manic panic ultraviolet all over that and it came out really nice. That's what I did for the hair in my profile pic. Also if you are going to use manic panic I recommend the "amplified" formula it works much better to brighter and lasts longer

I find that Jerome Russell pinky colours plum or violet are also very good and last a very long time and fade to nice colors!! They also show up more on my dark hair.
