It might take more than one bleaching. Try stripping the color first. you can buy it at sallys. but if your hair is damaged you might want to wait some time before dying it after bleaching it.

Ah thank you Justine, so strip it (bleach it) and then dye it. my hair is in a pretty good condition but I'll give it some rest!

You can go to sallys (if you have one) and get a color stripper and then go from there after the first round and see where it gets you. I personally recommend the wella color charm one. it doesn't really leave a lot of damage. my hair is still pretty healthy after two rounds of that and two rounds of hair dye.
