My nails are always really short and when I try to grow them they look pretty and stuff but they do this weird thing where they don't grow beyond like 1 cm. are there any ways I can grow them longer?

Really the only thing you can do is take care of them. Like your hair, nail growth is based on genetics and they'll grow their best at their healthiest.

What do you mean with they don't grow past 1cm? Like they stop growing or do they break?

Like Alexis said, you just need to take care of them. Push back your cuticles, and then find a nail shape that you like. I also have brittle nails, and I find what helps me is to use a clear top coat when I don't have polish on. There are also specific brands of polish that will strengthen your nails.

Also calcium affects your nails and hair. Drinking lots of milk helps.

You can try semi permanent polishes, from opi for example. you keep your natural nails and cheaper than acrylic.
