Hey guys. I have red marks on my cheeks from using Toothpaste 4 years ago which burnt my skin! I have tried retin-a but it hasn't done the job! So my question is what should I use next? Also for brown marks left from spots and pore strips(yes pore strips!) what do you reccommend. I have vitamin c, hydroquinone, glycolic aid, tazorac, azelaic acid and kojic acid. Pleave me recommendations for both my red marks on cheeks and brown spots! Xx

Maybe a face lotion? I'm not very skilled in this sort of thing.

I don't know about red marks but a good vitamin c should help the dark spots. Shelley. recommend the murad essential c for me.

I don't have any personal experience with this, but do you want natural home remedies or something else? Microdermabrasion is a newish treatment but has high success rates, though it's usually quite expensive. Home remedies I've seen from a quick but if research right now include things like acid peels, which it seems you've already tried (the glycolic acid etc) and things like oatmeal facials, which personally seem a bit of a fad but you can try it. I'd suggest not using real acids on the red parts if it was an alkali that burnt the skin, so things like lemon juice might be a no, but that might work on the brown parts. Research yourself some remedies for the hyperpigmentation and focus on things that say they work on freckles and stuff too, as they'd be for lightening the skin. I don't think you can make some of the spots disappear completely, it depends on how dark they are. I'm not sure what to do about the red though - let me know where abouts on the face both the red marks and the brown marks are, as I have a friend who's a dermatologist so she can have a check for you later. Also maybe ask a dermatologist near you that can provide more personal recommendations for you? X.

I've recommended a vitamin c serum for you multiple times, you should probably check it out.

Yes I think the oil would work best - not a cream or lotion or anything that might contain lots of extra additives like perfume etc.if you're going to be putting it on daily - my friend said since the patches don't seem to be very big, a home remedy like the ones suggested by others would be more cost effective than going to get something done professionally as I had suggested, but they are more likely to work for the brown, though might damage the red more. Go to a dermatologist if you're still unsure, but in the meantime do what sophisticatedchocolate said if you can find it near you.

I'd definitely resort to a oil. I've used Vitamin C serums, specifically Ole Henriksen and it did nothing but only brighten my skin. I'm loving Tamanu Oil which you can apply up to 2-3 times a day (:
I bought it off of Amazon. It's really amazing stuff!
I've been using it on and off but noticed my hyperpigmetation diminish and fade :D

And definitely exfoliate 1 to 2 times a week, but if your skin becomes irritated tgen go to exfoliating once a week. Also helps your overall complexion. But definitely look into Tamanu Oil (:

Wow! How do you use it in the day? Like what if it's sunny and I need to wear spf?

I have dark spots (hyper pigmentation) above my upper lip. Obagi, hydroquinone, worked great for me but the spots came back the instant I stopped using it, and you're only supposed to use it for a max of 6 months. I tried vitamin C, retin A, Lyterra, and a host of other things. Nothing has touched it. I finally made an appointment with my dermatologist to have it lasered off. I go tomorrow! The laser only costs $150 and I'm furious that I wasted so many years and so much money on products that don't work when I could have done the laser for less than the cost of a bottle of retin A. I'll let you know how the laser works!
