How do I re-grow them and stop picking at them?

I stopped biting on them by just rubbing galic on them but the smell is so bad I tryed washing them or/and putting lotion with perfume but the smell was still there but it really works after like 2 weeks I stopped biting them but I can't stop my nails to peel I hate it!! Nail polish looks so ugly like bumps or something like that😰😩😂😂
