Today I tried washing my hair with baking soda + water and then conditioning with apple cider vinegar diluted with water. My hair felt so clean when I rinsed it out and now it feels even better than it does when I use my normal shampoo/conditioner and it's a lot less frizzy. Is there any reason I shouldn't wash my hair like this? Also hAs anyone tired this before?

I've research this method a lot before and I've read in several places that in the long run when using the baking soda+water regularly it is damaging to the hair because it is so alkaline. Even though the baking soda is followed by the acv rinse which is supposed to nutralise it, it can still cause damage because it is so far from your hairs natural ph level. It might be worth looking into using a diy shampoo made from honey or aloe for everyday use (this is much more moisturising and will have the correct ph) and using the baking soda rinse once a month to clarify.

Thanks I'll make sure to look at the homemade shampoo. I was under the understanding that the acv balances it all out :)

Baking soda + vinegar = neutral ph. This combination won't damage your hair any more than sulfates in shampoos, and from experience, won't damage it at all. Vinegar also helps keep crazy hair dyes from staining pillowcases. (Yes, this really does work!)
