I have a very bad habit of biting around my nails. Any tips on how to stop and how to heal the skin fast?

I just stopped biting my nails in the last month and here's what I did:
1. I used Sally Hansen extreme growth polish. It works so well
2. Rubbed coconut oil on the edges of my nails to soften my cuticles and get rid of any rough skin
3. If I felt like biting or picking my nails I would just stare at them
3. When I had just started like the first week I would put this really gross tasting nail polish on so you wouldn't put my fingers in my mouth

Bitrex can be found in some polish removers, it's used as a deterrent for chewing. I've noticed it gets left behind on my skin, that may or may not help.

How about carrying some moisturizer or hand sanitizer with you and every time you feel like biting just rub some in so you can't because of the taste.

Also some people don't like it but it worked for me when I was younger was putting a hair tie or rubber band on my wrist and every time I would bite my nails I would snap the band on my wrist.

If all this doesn't work, I would visit you doctor. If it's a long standing problem, it's actually a condition that requires medication. I know because my husband does it. So badly once, he got a blood infection! How's that for a deterrent?

Weekly manicures help try going to cosmetology schools once a week if you can if the cuticle is cut you can't bite it.. I am also a cuticle biter and cosmetologist my school had manicures for a $1 special and was $5 regularly.

I get acrylics to stop me biting mine. It's harder to bite them with acrylics, for me at least.

I had a bad habit at picking my nails, so I got acrylics. Try that!

I bought cuticle cutters so when they start to get long I can soak and trim them. Make sure you are careful as you can cut yourself with new ones. This helped me stop chewing/picking at the skin around my nails which resulted in less hangnails and better looking hands :)

I also recommend getting acrylics.
