Which one

Primer AND skincare. If you don't have a proper skincare routine then your skin could be overproducing oils to make up for that. You need to use at least a cleanser, eye cream, and moisturizer. I suggest Origins Checks & Balances Frothy Face Wash. It doesn't dry out my skin or cause an overproduction of oils.

For primer I love the NYX Photo Loving Primer, it's affordable and does an amazing job at keeping makeup in place.

I have oily skin as well and have tried multiple things to see what works. Regardless of the different techniques I use I always give each step a few moments to sink in. Otherwise everything will start to slide before long.

I use the Rimmel Stay Matte primer with whatever liquid foundation I use. I find that it does well and makes my foundation adhere a little more. Liquid foundations I use are Maybelinne 24 hour Super Flex, Kat Von D Lock It, MUFE HD Foundation.

Sometimes, during the summer, I will also apply a light brushing of powder over the primer, before adding the foundation.

I have also tried Wayne Goss's technique of taking a tissue, separating it to just one ply, and using a makeup wedge to lightly press all over your face after applying foundation. Do one side of your face first, move the wedge to a separate piece of the tissue, and do the remaining side. This will soak up some of the oil without moving your foundation.

You can also try a powder foundation. I love Bare Minerals after years of trying to stay away from it.

I switched to jojoba oil as a moisturizer and took up using a primer and I've noticed a significant change since. I was skeptical on the oil but tried it anyway, it doesn't clog pores and closely mimics the human production of oil. Also, keep blotting papers with you just in case :)

I don't suggest my primer lol I have NYX and the smell of it makes me gag. But it's all I have so I just don't breathe during application lol.

I just started using Hourglass Immaculate Foundation. This should be used for only the oiliest of skin. It's awesome. I still have to blot throughout the day but half as often or less than with other foundations. I really believe it improves your skin too. Note: sometimes when I first put in on it looks a little orangey. I think that might be because of the kaolin clay in it but that effect goes away.

Use soap and glory's peaches and clean as a cleanser and scrub your nose in it to get rid of blackheads and pores. lush mask of magnaminty helps too. with good skincare you can minimize oil production. for makeup, buy max factor all day flawless primer and Bourjois 123 perfect foundation and a good setting powder like soap and Glory's one heck of a blot :(
