I will be interviewing with Macy's for the "beauty advisor" position! I was wondering if because its a beauty-related job if I should wear a little more makeup than I normally would or if I should tone it down and keep it as natural as possible. what do you think would be best?

I think I'd go classic with a red lip and a perfect winged liner just because they're difficult to apply perfectly and they'd give you creds.

I think this can go either way so my opinion is do what you feel comfortable doing. If you rock at a smokey eye do a smokey eye if you suck at a crease don't do a cut crease. Also think back to what the other girls were wearing as far as makeup. Did they wear a lot or little makeup? What did they physically wear (outfit) dress like you've got the job. I personally did 2 rounds of interviews for mac. One day I wore more dramatic makeup and the other more natural.

Make sure you do your homework - know what products the store offers, and lookup current makeup trends. Reference these in your interview - it will show that you are up-to-date and familiar with their products. Here's a link to some folks who interviewed for that same position and the types of questions they were asked...review these, make sure you have answers with specific examples if possible, and good luck! :-)

I say do whatever you do best. More makeup would be a good thing but if you do natural makeup better, stick to that. You want to showcase your talents.

I'm sure they will search for a person who applies makeup properly and knows about their products, so therefore since dramatic makeup is used for fun or parties or dates etc, it isn't necessary applying for a job. go for some thing with neutral eyes and a little color on the lips ultimately she will judge you based on your application of the makeup-which will be flawless:)

Whatever you do, I think they care more how " professionally" it's put on than the amount.

I would say do whatever your best at. If your strength is in smokey eyes do that, don't try to do something you're not sure about. It would look better to show up confident and with your makeup done really well then show up doubting yourself because you tried to do something you weren't great at. Concentrate on making sure it's looks best versus the amount.
