Accutane? Any good?

Has anyone here tried accutane? I went to my doctor and she referred me to a dermatologist about my skin and said that they would probably give me accutane. Does it work really well?

I believe accutane is a last resort acne medication you won't get put on it right away, you would have had to try pretty much everything & if nothing works then they'll talk about accutane

To put in my two cents, my boyfriend went on acutane and it drastically improved his acne! He's not done his cycle yet so I can't tell you the final results but I've definitely seen a change in confidence

Know that accutane has worked wonders for a lot of girls. When I was a little younger I was recommended by my derm to consider accutane as a possible treatment but my parents refused due to the requirement that you must be on birth control a month before and after and along the entire course. My family believes in abstinence until marriage (I believe in finding the right person) and they thought the both control would make me think it was ok to have sex at a young age... All that aside however, it seems like an excellent option for those who suffer with extremely severe cystic acne. Obviously you need to discuss all the risks with your derm but if you've tried everything else I say go for it!

I agree with Jacqlyn. It is definitely a last resort. I've only been using it for 2 months and it's worked miracles. I highly recommend it if you've tried everything you can.
