I noticed I have a couple split ends and I'm not really sure why. I try to stay away from using a hair dryer as much as possible and I always use a heat protectant. I'm really trying to grow my hair out and don't really want to cut it, but if I have to I will. What is the best way to get rid of split ends? Should I get a repairing shampoo and conditioner or just get my hair trimmed?

I've also heard getting your hair trimmed every so often can keep your hair healthier and free of split ends?

So far, I haven't heard of any magical repair treatment and you can just get a trim to get rid of them, not get a lot cut off :)

You should get your hair trimmed.
you are supposed to get a trim every three months because it is healthy for your hair.

You've heard correct, regular trims will keep your hair in good shape. I won't say free of split ends, because we'll always have them in some capacity, but trimming every six to eight weeks helps cut them down. It seems counterproductive to keep cutting your hair if you want to grow it out, but trust me. It works. You can try using some splint end repair treatment, but your best bet is to just chop them off.

If you are trying to grow your hair out try not to cut it very often. If you cut it every month it will be really healthy but it won't help it grow faster.

Get them trimmed and also don't forget to use conditioner every time you wash your hair. Washing your hair might also damage your hair so try avoiding it a little If you want to keep your hair healthy after you trim them. Also, on the days your hair feel dry or they don't look very healthy, use a mask for your hair time. I recommend going to a hairdresser and they will definitely offer something that will fix your problem

I used to get split ends loads as I used to have VERY long hair!! I would recommend getting layers put in as it minimises them. I would also say get it trimmed once a month and get a proper full cut every month or two months. Also use heat protection before using hairdryer, straighteners, curlers etc... Hope that helps!! Good Luck xx :)

There are products to repair split ends but I'm not sure if they actually work, and they probably don't. I think you best bet is to just get your hair trimmed, and then keep trimming it every 3 months.

To get your hair to grow you should keep your hair and your body healthy. Eat healthy and drink plenty of water. Use hair masks on your hair weekly. I suggest using coconut oil and egg masks but you can also use almond oil, avocado oil, sunflower oil, argan oil, castor oil, and olive oil. Don't wash your hair everyday, do it every other day at the most. Always use a conditioner, and use a deep conditioner once a week. Don't brush your hair right after you get out of the shower. Use a silk pillowcase to sleep on. Try not to use heat on your hair, but if you have to always use a heat protectant. Aaaand I think thats about it. Good luck :)

Trim the split ends. Those products that claim to "repair" just simply mask the issue. If they truly worked based off their claims then stylists would be out of work. If you choose to not trim what will happen is that the split will travel up the hair shaft turning a minor issue into a major issue...going from needing a trim to a drastic cut to get rid of the damage.
