I have extremely straight hair, I know it's common for straight hair girls to want curly hair and vice versa but it just drives me crazy. People always obsess over my hair because it's very thick and long but I just wish it had more oomph to it lol no matter what I do the curl won't last more than an hour at the most. So anyways, I work at a salon and get all my services for free and I've spoken with my friend who's the head s stylist and runs the salon and we talked about doing a perm next week, but more of a beach wave perm. I'm not worried about her doing a bad job, I've gone to her for years and she has done hair for new York Fashion week multiple times and is very talented. I wanted to know more about it and any experiences. If you've ever had one do you have pictures to show the result? I'm pretty set on doing it, it's not going to last forever so I thought it'd be nice to try out and enjoy curly hair for once & not worried about some damage because my hair is very healthy but any input, experience, advice & any product recommendations would be awesome since I've never had to buy anything for styling curly hair or really how to style it. So really girls with naturally curly hair hopefully can help too! Thank you!

I'd say go for it. You'll love it. I've seen amazing results. I don't have it myself.
I wish I had the guts. Since your hair is thick and heavy, it will stand the chemical pretty well.
And if not, you can always get a trim. I say go for it and have fun!

My hair is extremely straight and thin. I got a perm once and regretted it. The first time I showered, the entire thing fell out. I even waited four days. But the experience might be different for you since you have thick hair, and my hair never holds anything.

I am a curly girl use some kind of oil like garnier fructis marvelous oil frizz defy, and leave in conditioner, and mousse your hair won't be as curly as mine since your getting beach waves. But you just got to play around with products to see which one is best for you. oo and if your hair gets tangled really brush it in the shower with conditioner. I use the wet brush. cuz if you brush out of the shower you'll ruin the curl or the wave

I have thick curly hair.
Do not brush your hair, just finger comb in the shower
The best products for me have been derm organic. I their shampoo, conditioner, volume mousse, and occasionally their spray for setting, if needed. You should invest in a diffuser. The best thing to do is towel dry hair by carefully scrunching, then. Apply the mousse I use about 5 pumps. Then diffuse on cool or warm. (You can add a few iron curls if you need to finish the look)
