So I don't even know where to start when it comes to brushes, it seems like there's a million lol. a little overwhelming. what are some brushes I would get some use out of? preferably not too expensive, but if it's an amazing brush I'm willing to splurge. also if you could say what the brush is for that'd be really helpful. thanks ladies :)

You should look up Kathleen Lights YouTube video about elf brushes, she's sooo honest, unlike a lot of YouTubers. The black ones are actually great quality in my opinion, the white ones are the cheaply made ones.

I'm loving it cosmetics brushes the ones that they sell at ulta (: I only have one of their face brushes, completion, I use it for everything powder, blush, bronzer. They aren't too expensive either (: Some are also sold in sets making it a better deal (:

I like the real techniques brushes
You can get them at London drugs, if you have that store where you live
I'm pretty sure you can get them lots of places though
I particularly like the expert face brush for my foundation, it really makes putting foundation on fast and easy

Real techniques would be your best bet. Although the IT cosmetics brush for Ulta are amazing. I replaced most of my mac face brushes with those. They are incredibly soft and easy to use with the most flawless finish. They are not cheap if sold individually. They do have the sets but they are not as good quality as the individual. I actually returned my brush set because I was so disappointed in it and ended up just getting more individuals. If you are on a budget, real techniques are really really really great for the price.

Real techniques for sure, I wanted to get some new brushes and I got the core collection kit for sale, I've had it for two days and only tried the buffing brush so far but I love them already, they're so soft and even after being washed the first time there wasn't any shedding, very pleased :)

EBay brushes should be good enough for beginner. Usually, the more make up you apply and the more you feel comfortable with your application the more brushes you will try and you will get more expensive higher end ones! You know, you build your way up to the best Brushes.

Get a flat top kabuki brush. it can be used for all steps of face makeup. you can find affordable ones from Color Studio and Blank Canvas. or a more expensive one like from Sigma. just one brush would get you through all steps so investing in it would be worthwhile :)
