The shot is a progestin only form of bc right? I was on the progestin only pill. my dermatologist said progestin only contraceptives are notoriouss for making acne worse :/ the combination pill, with estrogen, is supposed to improve acne. is that what they prescribed you? I just started taking it, fingers crossed that I won't get too mood swingy and go crazy, oh boy :)

I have not used any of these products. did your dermatologist suggest using that particular cleanser? because using benzoyl peroxide along with tretinoin may decrease the effectiveness of tretinoin and your skin may become very irritated. I would talk with your doctor or pharmacist about using your prescription along side the non prescribed benzoyl peroxide. and if your doctor isn't being very specific with the details of your medications you can always call your pharmacist and I'm sure they would be more than happy to answer your questions.

Yes Stephanie he told me to get a clean and clear cleanser that had benzoyl peroxide in it. That's why I bought this one. It was the only one that they had that contained benzoyl peroxide in it. Thanks so much for letting me know I was going to use it tonight but I'm going to wait and call the pharmacist tomorrow :) like I said he didn't really give me much info just took a look at my face and told me to pick up my prescriptions and to buy the face wash:/ I had to read the prescription papers to find everything out

Okay I'm sorry he didn't explain it to you. That must be really frustrating. I hope all goes well with your prescriptions!

I think that a high dose, but then again in not a Dr. Lol. Also the clean & Clear face wash might be a little too harsh, usually when using this topical anti acne creams you need a mild face wash that won't further irritate skin, I'm guessing the reason he recommended this face wash was because "tretinoid" & benzoil peroxide work well together. But since you're taking the pill + the other lotion + the tretinoid it might be way t harsh for sensitive skin, if you can't handle it I recommend using Cetaphil. I went through this a couple years back, I got the same you did, except the pills where a lower dose. You will start purging & it will become way worse in around 2 weeks. After like 1-2 weeks of purging, everything will clear up. I took the pills for 6 months. Went off it & my skin remained crystal clear for the remaining 6 months, after that my skin was still clear but I started breaking out again during my period/ when stressed/ for no reason, so I still get little acne, hopefully for you it clears up forever! xx goodluck ask me if you have any questions!

Thanks Karen! I thought it was a bit much too when he told me all of this. What I didn't understand is why he didn't ask me my skin type witch is "sensitive" so I thought if he may of asked he wouldn't of put me on so much. I used cetaphil cleanser and it broke me out πŸ˜’ I'm not going to use the clean and clear until I call him first or at least a pharmacist. I appreciate you helping me and I hope you don't get any acne as well πŸ˜Š

I used cetaphil when I was on acne Meds and topical treatments you need to be really careful not to over do it with the acne products once your on prescribed medications and treatments from a dermatologist. I over did and and got a chemical burn on my face that took months to heal! I would suggest to any one the cetaphil face wash and lotion

I just wanted togive you a tip when taking that antibiotics. eat LOTS OF YOGURT. antibiotics also kill off the good bacteria living in places its supposed to and can give you yeast infections so just eat lots of yogurt with live cultures in it and youll be fine good luck! :)

Rissa G.

Brianna, the antibiotics state for me to stay away from dairy products or yogurt :| :| which I thought was odd, because it's suppose to help bacteria as well? But yeah it strongly advises against eating yogurt / milk

I'd ease into the cream...applying every other night..sparingly.. and be sure to wait a bit after washing your face to apply as that's when skin is most delicate. I'd also use a daily SPF of 30 and be sure to moisturize. You will probably be tapered off the antibiotics to a lower dose over time as often the body stops creating certain bacterias.

Renay thats so weird lol my doctor at the time was a woman and she gave me that tip lol I've never heard of that I have seen some that say if you get an upset stomach drink it with milk but I've never heard of it to stay away from dairy I'm sorry I have no idea why
