Okay so I've always had really really oily skin so as a result, I use a lot of powders. I also have loads of acne and I like to cover it up as much as I can, which means putting a lot on my face (anti-shine primer, concealer, liquid foundation, powder foundation, contour powder, highlight powder, blush and setting powder) and it all looks great and covered when I finish but once I get home from school and look in the mirror, it's very cakey all over. And while I'm aware this may be a skin issue, anyone have any tips regarding makeup application of how I can fix this (any apart from "put on less foundation or concealer" because I quite enjoy having my acne all covered up)?

You do seem to be using quite a lot so I would suggest looking into full coverage products. Also make sure you're letting your liquid products fully dry/settle into the skin before applying another layer or the next product. Use thin layers of product and build up slowly.

Wanye Goss just put a new video out on how to get ride of excess foundation after you put it on. Just take a clean sponge and wrap a tissue around it and pat your face... Maybe watch it so you could understand it better.

Since you have oily skin I would suggest giving it a break from makeup!even if is just removing one or two products to let your skin heal

I highly recommend using tree tea oil!I use it on my pimples and they disappear within two days! It will help cut the oil on your face as well

I had the same problem for so long like it was bad! But I've been using Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation and it has helped so much...it gives FULL coverage but still doesn't look cakey...

Keep up with your skincare, apply in thin layers and build, I'd suggest maybe getting a better setting powder, such as Tarte Amazonian Clay translucent. Actually, I'd suggest checking the whole line out. Great for oiliness and it's all full coverage.

I suggest looking into one hit products that meet every inch of coverage from one product, cover fx and dermablend, it's full coverage and skin friendly cosmetic lines that I highly suggest, it will touch all the basis of what you need for your skin and staying power that's highly addicting. Now if that is high in cost I also recommend looking into Boots N?7 cosmetic line as it also caters to skin and foundations/ products are a universal line for every needs as well. :)

Use a primer first. Then use tarte's Amazonian clay foundation with a damp sponge. I use more on my cheeks than I would on my chin, nose, and forehead because those areas get really oily. Then I would set it with NYX's stay matte loose powder.

I've found that dampening my real techniques blender it really helps to not make the foundation cakey. And Amazonian clay foundation doesn't get oily like other products I've used.

I'd say you need to find a better full coverage foundation and concealer. You should be able to find one that doesn't look cakey. I just started using Estée Lauder Double Wear and it does a good job. I also avoid powder if I can. I think it can just look to unnatural. Use oil blotting sheets instead. I'd also make sure your putting moisturizer on. When I had a lot of acne, I didn't like moisturizer as I thought it would make my acne worse. Your skin could be dry from acne medicine which makes makeup not go on as smooth. As long as you use a moisturizer that is that is oil free and non comodegonic, it won't make you break out or worsen your acne and it will create a better palette for makeup.

I'm aware that I put on way too much makeup. However I do find that it covers up most of my acne (apart from a couple of very prominent ones) and I haven't had a problem with this up until now. Also, I really hate dewy skin and I prefer matte, even if it is unnatural looking. I purposely make my makeup very dramatic and a bit unnatural simply because that's what I enjoy on myself. However I am looking into different forms of application rather than just loading up a bunch of foundation and concealer. Thank you all :)

I agree with alma n miss Jacqueline :) they always give the best advice! And I have found that full coverage products are the best for convering acne so I can use minimal products that have maximum coverage - coverFX, dermablend, Clinique, MUFE and KVD have all worked well for me to cover acne scars n new pimples without further irritating my skin.
